Viktig beskjed.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sSYXrWIA618&feature=channel

Focus makes a beat.

Maaaan there's so much to learn from this clip. Focus is a maniac obviously, and the beat is insane. I really like how he manages to put so many elements in here, without making it sound too cluttery and chaotic. It all just fits in perfect, and the drums, oooh the drums....!!

New beat, and link to my Youtube channel.

3/15/10

Marc Emery (old news, but important)

For those of you who don't know, Marc Emery is a marijuana activist from Canada. He has sold millions of seeds trough out the world to combat the US war on drugs. Now he is sentenced to years in prison because of it.

Let us do what ever the FUCK we want with plants that grow OUTSIDE in the NATURE of the PLANET we all LIVE ON! Oh, and free Marc Emery.

Dont believe the hype!!

Funny commercial for the brand new Dr. Dre approved HP laptops, which is supposed to sound better than other laptops, customized for beat making apparently. With a starting price of 2.300 $ the laptop can go fuck it self, BUT the commercial is still amusing though, featuring the brilliant manager Murray from Flight Of The Conchords!!

More heat from CyHi Da Prynce!!!

This dude right here needs to be paid some real attention.
Signed to Konvict / Def Jam, so I'm sure his album will be lava.

Download his mixtape here

One of my all time favourite Dilla beats.!!

Frank N Dank got some real gems from J Dilla for Extended Play, this is one of them, sickkkkkk beat!!

Wow. This is a pretty awesome track.

Cyhi Da Prynce, never heard him before but I just saw this video @ Kanye West's blog and thought I had to put it up here too. Fresh sounding, ill flowing, dope rhyming, I can dig this.

2/12/10

New european track feat. Havoc / S.A.S

Havoc & S.A.S spits the dopest verses in my opinion. Even though I can't understand what the fuck the other dudes are rapping about, it still sounds like Kaz Money and Azad are the most interesting ones to me..

The beat is pretty nice too, if not a bit repetitive. But I like how the video is presented. It must be fun to be a fan of that Kool Savas dude, great way to take good care of your listeners with that kind of video..!!!

2/11/10

Rare Dilla footage, Toronto 2002.

It's not much but it's cool to see Dilla speak on camera anyway. R.I.P

2/10/10

The Game & Pharrell in the studio.

This album is going to be hot as hell on a way too warm day.

Common on J Dilla.

Common speaks about Dilla's progressive music, his quiet ways and how he thinks Dilla will be seen in the future.

2/3/10

Track of the week!!

From Alchemist's album Chemical Warfare, featuring Three Six Mafia & Juvenile. This one is sick, and particularly interesting because it sounds so different from every other Alchemist beat I ever heard..!!

2/2/10

Couple of minutes with Madlib & Talib Kweli

It's not often you get to see Madlib do interviews. This one is short, and some what old, but it's still cool to watch him.

Sequencer software change..

So, I've always been a bit of an audio/computer/music geek. When I first started out making music it was no problem for me learning how to use a tracker, what others may have seen as digital codes and confusing numbers, I saw as something straight out of the Matrix and that also finally gave me the opportunity to make my own music.

A few years later I had been on the MPC2000XL, MPC 1000, a couple of ASR10's (both rack and keyboard versions), Reason, FLStudio, Cubase, Ableton Live, you name it. It was hard to find that ONE software/machine that really stood out and took care of all my plugin/sound/editing/mixing needs.

The last 3 years I've been almost totally dedicated to FLStudio, but as of last night I've changed software sequencer again, and I think it's for the last time. (At least until I eventually make it big and have to change to Pro Tools)

FLStudio was great.. Easy, fast, effective and it supported all the plugins I needed it to. I could mix/master well enough with it and my workflow was on a very comfortable level after having used the program for 3/4 years +. BUT, what the fuck have I been using it for, when all I've really needed the last year was audio recording and mixing possibilities?

Finally, my eyes and ears opened up to Cubase5...

I'm telling you, I dont know if it is my imagination but in my opinion Cubase5 sounds richer, crisper, clearer and just more ''RIGHT'' than FL9 ever did. Plus, it's much easier to do complicated edits, audio recordings and FX/mixer routing... It may be obvious for alot of people out there, but I'm just glad I finally made the change. Cubase5, Waves SSL/API/Mercury, Kjaerhus and Camel plugins is just an awesome combination...
Go try it for yourself!! You know it's free...

40 minutes with Pharrell

This is a real good week for inspiring interviews with the worlds greatest producers! Pharrell shares knowledge on a lot of different subjects. Got to love how he talks about work ethics and how creativity really works, real talk.

Pharrell Keynote at MIDEM 2010 from thecashmerethinker on Vimeo.

1/24/10

30 minutes with Dr. Dre

Dre gives his insights touching on subjects like the music business, production and hiphop culture. Well worth the watch!! I think the interview is from 97, but I never seen it before. Feels like a rare opportunity to get to listen to Dre speak for this amount of time, especially about these topics.

Gucci Mane + Bangladesh

Im not the biggest fan of Gucci Mane, but this Bangladesh produced banger sounds real sick.
